Crusaders for a Pristine Animal World

How you can “Go Green” right now!

INSIDE

  • Change out your household products today!  Any product that has a “warning”, “danger”, or “poison” label on it do not dispose down your drain or in the garbage.  Your local Department of Public Works can tell you how to dispose of them or C4PAW can do it for you!  Also visit our Resources page for companies that specialize in safe/effective household products.
  • Change your light bulbs to energy saver bulbs that use 75% less electricity
  • Use a filtration water system at home (check with your local water department or have your water independently tested to see what is best for your home)
  • Open windows whenever possible, circulate fresh air, get some plants
  • Change over to natural/non-toxic personal care products
  • When remodeling, building or cleaning KNOW your products
  • Stop junk mail today! Visit GreenDimes.com.
  • Recycle

OUTSIDE

  • Stop using synthetic fertilizers and pesticides
  • Forego ATM receipts – check your balance on-line
  • Drive less/walk more
  • Is a hybrid car in your future or just a smaller one?

  • Use reusable product bags
  • Buy organic and biodegradable
  • Use recycled aluminum foil
  • Use reusable water bottles
  • Go vegetarian for one week!

GREEN TRUTHS

  • Natural products work just as well as chemical products and even out-perform most leading brands due to recent technological advances
  • A clean home does not have to have a scent
  • The main ingredient in antibacterial agents is triclosan, an EPA registered pesticide.  This is a human risk, a most definite pet risk and a threat to the environment
  • Just because it is sold at the grocery store it does not mean it is safe.  There are no federal laws requiring pre-market safety testing by the manufacturer and they are not required to list exact ingredients on the labels
  • The Consumer Product Safety Committee determined that more than 150 different chemicals found in ordinary household products are directly responsible for producing long term problems such as cancer, allergies, birth defects and some psychological disorders
  • EPA studies indicate that human exposure to air pollutants indoors can be 2 to 5 times, and sometimes up to 100 times higher than outdoor levels
  • The National Cancer Association released results of a 15 year study in Oregon showing that women who worked in the home are at a 54% higher risk of developing cancer than women who worked outside the home
  • The International Agency for Research on Cancer has concluded that 80% of all cancer is attributable to environmental influences (these include lifestyle influences such as smoking, as well as exposure to carcinogenic chemicals)
  • Liquid bleach, ammonia, chlorine, phosphates and toxic solvents are not necessary to clean our homes

  • Now is the time for good, clean fun, now more than ever.

We never know the worth of water till the well is dry.  ~Thomas Fuller, Gnomologia, 1732
